Welcome to our School Sport Coaches Area!
We have eight coaches active across the Partnership and each one has their own profile on this site, so you can learn a bit more about them, find out what their coaching focus is for the term and discover more about how to get involved in the community.
Coach Manager: Christine Sprowell
As manager of the School Sport Coaching Programme for the Partnership my main responsibility is to quality assure the coaches’ delivery and to support their ongoing professional development.
This includes, managing the screening process, inducting coaches, supporting their personal development plans, signposting training opportunities, observing their practice and offering feedback. I also coordinate termly training events to bring all of the coaches together as a team.
Since the launch of the School Sport Coaching Programme in September 2008, we have seen a huge boost in the number of coaching hours being delivered in schools. As well as an increase in participation in our focus sports. This is largelydown to the hard work and enthusiasm of the team of high quality coaches we have been able to recruit for the programme.

I am the Partnerships full time hockey coach. I have been involved with hockey from an extremely young age. With my parents being keen players I could be seen with a hockey stick in my hand from the minute I could walk! My passion for hockey continued throughout my childhood and i went on to represent England at junior level and more recently Loughborough University whilst completing my degree.
In my first full time coaching role I am keen to assist teachers in South Cambs with their subject knoweldge through curriculum support and after school clubs. I am also eager to pass on my love and enthusiasm for hockey and get as many young people as possible playing the game in after school and community clubs.
Availability: All day Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

I am the Partnerships full time athletics coach as well as a lead coach at Cambridge and Coleridge Athletics Club. I have been involved in athletics since school when my PE teacher recommended I went along to the local athletics club. Since then I have competed up to a regional level mainly the jumping events but have been known to be roped into any events which needed filling (even surviving the steeple chase).
After completing my Sports Science degree at Brunel University I began coaching long and triple jump at Cambridge and Coleridge Athletics Club and have since become the clubs lead jumps coach and coaching secretary.

I am very fortunate to be involved in netball, a game I have loved to play and coach for many years, to now use my experience and see more young people and adults enjoying netball like I do.
I organise the High 5 Netball League for Year 4, 5 & 6 pupils in the primary schools in the Partnership. For those new to this league it involves school teams playing each other in divisional rounds which are held at central venues. At each divisional round teams play a minimum of two matches split into halves.
For older players in years 7 to 13 I also organise the Junior and Youth Netball League on Monday nights from January to April involving players from schools and local clubs.
As well as organising these competitions I visit primary and secondary schools across the Partnership to help establish after school netball clubs.

I am the partnerships full time Football coach as well as coaching Multi Skills, Tri Golf, Top Activity and Inclusion sports. I have been involved in sport since a very early age, especially football, which I have played since the age of 8. I started out playing in a boys team until I joined Cambridge United girls where I went on to join the girls centre of excellence.
After completing my GCSEs at Cottenham Village College I went onto college to study for a national diploma in sports studies and this is where I first got involved in coaching. Since then I have proceeded to work for Cambs FA, South Cambs District Council, Cambridge United Girls Centre of Excellence and more recently for the South Cambs School Sport Partnership.

I have now been teaching tennis, mostly locally for about 27years.
I trained at the Adrian Stonebridge Tennis Academy and graduated in 1982 as a senior teaching professional. I also gradually moved through my LTA coaching qualifications and passed my final exam in 1996 which gave me the LTA Performance Coaches Award. I hold a Sports Leaders Award and have passed my United States Professional Tennis Registry certificate. These qualifications have been gained along side my coaching. My experience is wide and varied, from coaching in Spain, Epsom, Newmarket and Cambridge to tutoring training courses for the LTA.
I have coached many county teams, Cambridge university varsity teams, and countless individuals, many to high standards in national tournaments. I collected my county blue colours for junior and senior level and am still enjoying representing the county in the over 35’s at Eastbourne. I am pleased to be involved with the South Cambs SSP as I am passionate about encouraging young people to play tennis.
