The healthy selfie campaign is for schools and families to show how they stay active and promote and celebrate healthy lifestyles, this is being run during the month of January (starting on 11th January 2021), with a different theme each week.
This can be anything from going for a walk, PE lessons, active breaks, trampolining in the garden, active learning, a trip out in nature, cooking healthy foods or making healthy snack options.
This is a great way of sharing ideas, celebrating those big and small healthy choices and inspiring others to be active and eat well.
To get involved as a school all you need to do is:
- Set aside a noticeboard area for children and staff to display their pictures. This can still be carried out during the current lockdown, you could create a virtual notice board for each class or as a whole school.
- Set the healthy selfie challenge as a homework/homeschool task each week
- Celebrate children’s successes
- Tweet what you have been doing using #CandPHealthySelfie don’t forget to tag us also @SouthCambSSP

Week 1 (starting 11th January 2021) – Get Going – the first week’s challenge is to simply GET GOING by doing something active or healthy, go for a walk or a bike ride, make a healthy snack or try a new healthy food, make up an active game or just play football in the garden.
Week 2 (starting 18th January 2021) – Get others involved – can you get other members of your household to join in with your healthy or active ideas or can you encourage a friend to join you in the Healthy Selfie Challenge.
Week 3 (starting 25th January 2021) – Get a PB or Try Something New – Can you set a personal best score or try a new activity or food? There are endless ideas for the personal best score but here are a few examples to help; how many keepy ups can you do? How long can you hold a plank for? How far can you throw a tennis ball? Take a look at the YST 60 second challenge page for more ideas. Set a score at the start of the week and see if, with practice during the week, you can beat it.
Week 4 (starting 1st February 2021) – Get Outdoors – can you take a selfie doing something healthy outdoors? Go on a scavenger hunt, use a torch and go on a night walk, go for a walk to your local woods and take a healthy picnic with you!
Staying active and eating well is even more important in the current climate and sharing your ideas can also really help others to make healthy choices each week, get involved and share what you are doing!
