Year 4 Mini Olympics
21 June from 9:00 am - 3:00 pm
FOR ALL, TARGETED, COMPETITIVE
All of our events will follow our new event themes; For All, Targeted & Competitive. These themes have been designed to ensure we provide events to benefit all young people.
FOR ALL– These events are for everyone and are delivered in school. They focus on providing 60 active mins for every child whilst supporting their physical, social and emotional wellbeing.
TARGETED– These events target specific groups of young people who would benefit the most from having positive experiences of sport, physical activity and competition. The activities and outcomes are designed to reflect the young people’s needs and motivations.
COMPETITIVE– These events are for pupils who are ready and prepared for competition and enjoy performing and competing against others. They provide the opportunity for competition in a positive and friendly environment where the focus is on enjoyment and supporting the wider development of young people as much as the outcome of the event itself.
This is a FOR ALL event open to all children in Year 4 but with the focus being to increase motivation and promote enjoyment for those least active children within your school.
We will not be holding our annual Year 4 Mini Olympics event face to face this year. However the good news is we are still planning on running it as an ‘in school’ event for you to run within your school. We are hoping that as many schools as possible will join us on Tuesday 21st June so we can take part alongside each other, virtually, as a School Sports Partnership.
There will be a mass warm up for you to join in with during the morning. Then there will be a selection of different physical activity challenges for you to have a go at in small groups plus a range of different cross curricular activities linked to the Olympic/Paralympic games. These will be a chance to get creative and learn more about Olympic/Paralympic games with history, writing and design activities. We also hope to be able to offer a dance session for all of your Year 4’s to take part in together. We will provide the resources, activities cards and video links for these and hope to be able to deliver either the mass warm or dance activity live on the day for those that can join us.
All information and resources will be sent to those schools who have booked a place on this event closer to the date, closing date for entries is 24th May 2022.
